For those of you who are wondering how I achieve such a soft blending effect with my colour pencils, here's a little video that demonstrates the technique.

Wow, I didn't realize you had to use a solvent on the pencil to achieve that effect. And what a nice way to blend the colors together without the waxy build-up from a blending pencil. I'd imagine you would have to use a high quality paper, perhaps even water color paper? Your two drawings together (one brighter and one darker) will be like the sun and moon!

Yes... I forgot to mention in my video, this sort of solvent-based blending technique should only be done on a heavy weight paper. I use hot-pressed colour paper... I find cold-pressed has way too much tooth for my liking.
