I finally finished me second (and last) entry for this year's EKKA exhibition. It's a sweet little crimson rosella. If you find that the colours of the images in the video don't match up with the final frame, that's because all of them were taken with my iPhone except that last image which was taken with my good SLR camera. The final photo is much more accurate in regards to tones, hues and colours.

This is how far I got with the rosella drawing. I'm hoping to finish the branch before the week is over (health permitting, of course.) This drawing is definitely much more colourful than my previous one! I'm a bit concerned that they might not work as a diptych and appear incongruous next to each other... Time will tell!
I haven't done much artwork in the past few weeks due to health concerns (mine, and that of loved-ones.) As my health is still very much "touch-and-go," I've made the executive decision to submit only two drawings at this year's EKKA. If by chance there is any improvement in my vitality level, and I can find the time to do so, I may submit two paintings as well. At this stage though, it appears very unlikely.
The next piece I will be working on will follow the same bird-oriented theme as "Tiny Watcher", but this time, it will focus on a crimson rosella. The idea is to create a kind of diptych. The EKKA treats diptych as two, individual entries. Both drawings will be sold separately, but the idea is that by creating a diptych-like theme, a buyer might be tempted in scooping up both artwork. |
